A ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knifeman has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a blade to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in the area in July 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.

"Policeman attacked," the constable stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording shared by the force depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon pointed forward.

He ran into the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement although being continually attacked with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, concluding the fight to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Can I get something on my neck now, I got knifed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his neck and additional injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster suffered slash wounds.

Authorities said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his partner's hemorrhaging prior to emergency responders arrived.

The new recognition comes subsequent to the trio of policemen received internal Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local officer association in early 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The actions of each policeman in the end rescued themselves and ensured no members of the public experienced any injuries."

Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, according to officials.
