Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A senior official said the attack rendered him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
