Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was lost their life in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in providing protection systems and applying sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

National leaders told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to demolish the national power system, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were preparing for more assaults.
